Seville Travel Guide & Money-Saving Tips

Seville Travel Guide & Money-Saving Tips

Our Seville travel guide pairs orange-blossom streets, tiled palaces and Triana tapas with practical ways to save money.

Tiled palaces, late-night tapas and the best of Andalusia

Seville is an easy city to fall for, especially if you like grand buildings with a bit of personality. The Real Alcázar has Mudéjar tilework, cool courtyards and gardens that make wandering feel like the main event.

Then cross the Isabel II bridge into Triana for lively neighbourhood bars and some of the city's best tapas. We love the contrast: Seville's most famous sights feel monumental, while dinner can still happen at a small bar with locals standing at the counter.

This hub brings together what to know before going to Seville and how to save money while still getting the most out of the trip.

Good to know

Summer afternoons regularly top 40°C, so the city slows down mid-afternoon and comes alive at night. Sightsee in the morning and evening.

Best time to visit

Weather, prices, crowds and the events worth travelling for.

Spring

Great

Apr – May

Orange blossom and mild 15–28°C days; festival weeks push room rates sharply higher and crowds fill the centre.

Summer

Good

Jun – Aug

Afternoons reach 38–45°C; rooms are cheapest in the warm months, with quieter streets during the day.

Autumn

Great

Sep – Oct

September stays warm near 33°C, October reaches the mid-20s; crowds thin and room rates ease.

Winter

Good

Nov – Feb

Mild 15°C days and 5–7°C nights; prices are lowest and major sights have shorter queues.

Cost saving tips

  • Book accommodation well ahead for Semana Santa and Feria de Abril, when room rates can double or triple.
  • Use free Monday late-afternoon entry at the Alcázar and Cathedral to cut more than €25 from a sightseeing day.
  • Choose Triana, Macarena or Alameda over Santa Cruz for a lower room rate without giving up easy access to the centre.

Top tips

  • Buy timed-entry tickets for the Alcázar and Cathedral a few days ahead; springtime same-day slots can disappear by mid-morning.
  • Keep €20 in notes for small Triana bars and market stalls that may not take cards.
  • Cross the Isabel II bridge for tapas priced around €2.50–5 and beer around €1.50–3.
  • Order a caña at the barra and pay as you go in busy neighbourhood bars.
  • Plan dinner for 9pm or later, since many kitchens close between lunch and dinner.
  • Round up at sit-down restaurants, while tapas bars usually do not expect a tip.

Packing tips

  • A refillable water bottle for hot summer afternoons.
  • Comfortable trainers for the Giralda's sloping ramps and Santa Cruz cobbles.
  • A light rain shell for brief April showers.
  • A warm layer for December evenings and their 5–7°C nights.
  • High-SPF sunscreen and a brimmed hat for the shadeless Plaza de España.
